Ukraine returned the bodies of another 62 fallen defenders.This was announced by the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories on Friday, July 14.
“Today, the repatriation of the bodies of dead Ukrainian servicemen from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine (TUT) took place. Thus, the bodies of another 62 defenders were returned. Four of them died in enemy captivity as a result of injury, illness and inadequate medical care,” the report says.
The repatriation of the bodies took place with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration, authorized for missing persons in cooperation with the Joint Center under the SBU, the Central Internal Affairs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other law enforcement agencies, departments and international organizations.
It is noted that “the transfer of the bodies of the dead military is carried out in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Conventions. The bodies of our defenders after identification will be transferred to their families for a decent burial.”
Recall that on June 23, Ukraine managed to return home the bodies of 51 servicemen . To date, the bodies of some 1,900 Ukrainian defenders have been recovered since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
It was also reported that Ukraine returned the bodies of 19 soldiers who died in captivity from the Russian invaders.
