8 People Killed Due to Floods in Algeria


Floods due to heavy rains occur in Algeria . The country’s civil defense service said 8 people died as a result of the flooding.

Reported by AFP, Monday (4/9/2023), the service said that the eight people were swept away by flood waters in Tlemcen and El Bayadh on Saturday.

The bodies of two women and two men, aged between 22 and 73, were found Sunday in Tlemcen in the northwest. This was revealed by civil defense.

They were in a vehicle that drifted when the Oued Ed-Dali river overflowed.

Meanwhile, in El Bayadh, three women and a man died when their car was swept away by floodwater from the Oued Chadli river.

Algeria’s meteorological office has issued a warning bulletin on Friday predicting rainstorms starting Saturday in the north of the country.
