Morocco Receives First Batch of Airbus H135M Helicopters at Meknes Air Base

The first batch of the H135M helicopters Morocco ordered from Airbus arrived today at the Meknes Air Base.

The first two H135Ms arrived in Meknes from Perpignan Airport, France, making a brief stopover in Almeria, Spain, and another in Tangier.

“These two helicopters are part of a larger acquisition of 12 H135M helicopters by the Royal Moroccan Air Force, as part of their plan to renew their helicopter fleet,” Far-Maroc tweeted.

FAR noted that the new helicopters will be used for training, transportation, and search and rescue missions.

According to Airbus, the H135 helicopter represents an exemplar of advanced rotorcraft engineering, offering a wide range of capabilities.

Describing the H135 as an “outstanding performer,” Airbus indicated that the helicopter incorporates signature features such as a bearingless main rotor, Fenestron shrouded tail rotor, engine software modifications, and a new lateral air intake.

These features enable a higher payload capacity and “best-in-class performance” throughout the helicopter’s flight envelope, added the manufacturer.

In addition, it noted that the H135 is celebrated as one of its most successful lightweight rotorcraft due to its endurance, compact design, low noise emissions, reliability, versatility, and cost-competitiveness.

Airbus added that it boasts the lowest operating and maintenance costs within the twin-engine category while excelling in varied mission profiles and the ability to land in challenging environments, particularly in high and hot conditions.

As of 2022, over 1,400 H135 helicopters have been delivered and are actively serving in more than 65 countries worldwide.
