Tripoli – The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM – Libya) has announced its intention to provide support to the Libyan Customs Maritime Department at its seaport offices. The support aims to meet the short, medium, and long-term needs of the Department, according to a statement by EUBAM – Libya.
The announcement was made during a meeting between representatives of the mission and officials from the Libyan Department administration. According to the statement released by EUBAM – Libya on its website on Wednesday, the mission confirmed its intention to strengthen cooperation with the Libyan Department in the coming period.
In the short term, EUBAM Libya has confirmed its availability to provide refresh training on operations management, board operations, communications and joint operations. The mission will also embed its personnel in already planned courses.
The meeting also discussed the maintenance of a small boat with support from EUBAM Libya. This boat would allow customs personnel to perform their duties within Tripoli harbor.
