Tunisia has invited United Arab Emirates (UAE) investors to attend the country’s international investment forum slated for early November as authorities seek around $2 billion to supplement the national budget.
Samir Saied, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Anadolu news agency reports, met with the envoy of the Gulf country to Tunisia and presented a set of projects proposed in line with the North African country’s 2023-2025 framework of development. The projects are inscribed on the Public-Private partnership framework.
Saied also argued that authorities will strive to create a favorable environment for UAE investments. The state office also expressed the desire to see the resumption of talks on “Sama Dubaï”; a sport and urban mega project to be developed on the banks of Lake Tunis.
Tunisia is facing an economic downturn owing to the impact of the pandemic. The country is currently in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a $1.9-billion loan to supplement the national budget facing a deficit of $2 billion.
