The 47-year-old’s private jet touched down in Georgia on Sunday afternoon and the 15-time champion appeared in good spirits.
This will mark Woods’ 25th appearance at The Masters. He has won six green jackets during an illustrious career that started in 1997.
Woods was pictured on 2 April sharing laughs with Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley. He hit balls alongside Jason Day and Billy Horschel.
Reports on the ground suggested Woods hit balls for around 30 minutes and still had a noticeable limp.
Having said that, the aforementioned Day claimed Woods looked in good physical condition.
Day told Golf Digest:
“It’s still got that Tiger sound. It’s a different noise. I asked him about his foot, and he said his foot was feeling good. It’s good to see him.
“Tiger is one of only a few players on tour who have their own sound, and it’s still got that power in it.
“You can hear in the strike that Tiger still has the speed.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Tiger was in the top 20 or 30 players on the PGA Tour for clubhead and ball speed.”
Woods has not yet made a formal announcement that he’s competing in the 87th Masters.
His last PGA Tour start came at the Genesis Invitational in February where he made the cut and eventually finished T-45.
That week saw Woods embroiled in another controversy when he was pictured handing a tampon to Justin Thomas after outdriving him.
Woods told the media after competing at Riviera:
“I’m not going to play any more than probably the majors and a couple more … that’s it, that’s all my body will allow me to do.
“My back the way it is, all the surgeries I had on my back, my leg the way it is. I just can’t. That’s just going to be my future.
“So my intent last year was to play in all four majors, I got three of the four.
“Hopefully this year I can get all four and maybe sprinkle in a few here and there.
“But that’s it for the rest of my career. I know that and I understand that. That’s just my reality.”
Woods will also be re-united with his old adversary Phil Mickelson this week.
Mickelson is one of 18 LIV Golf League players competing in the tradition unlike any other.
LIV Golf boss Greg Norman has claimed the ‘rebel’ league players will swarm the 18th green if one of the breakaway tour pros wins.
Brooks Koepka also chimed in on that regard after winning his second LIV Golf event.
