MOSCOW – For the first time, the airborne troops received heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A Solntsepek, they will be used in a special operation in Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense reported .
“In the Saratov region, in one of the advanced formations of the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection, for the first time, the transfer of heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A Solntsepek took place in the interests of the Airborne Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. <…> Transfer to the crews of modernized TOS combat vehicles -1A “Solntsepek” took place for the first time in the history of the Airborne Forces,” the message says.As Colonel Aleksey Goncharov, head of the RKhBZ service of the Airborne Forces, noted, these systems “have no equal in the arsenals of the collective West”, they induce panic in enemies.
“I am sure that his (weapons. – Approx. ed.) skillful use will bring our victory closer,” he added.”Solntsepeki” showed a good result in the destruction of fortified strongholds of the enemy during a special operation, the Ministry of Defense noted. The fire is conducted with the help of the latest software systems of topographic and geodetic reference. From the fire of TOS-1A it is impossible to hide even in the trenches.The crews leaving for the special operation zone demonstrated the readiness of vehicles and personnel to perform combat missions, the Defense Ministry added.The TOS-1A “Solntsepek” heavy flamethrower system was developed on the basis of the TOS-1 “Pinocchio” in 2001. The system is designed to destroy lightly armored vehicles, vehicles, buildings, fortifications and enemy manpower in them at a distance of up to six kilometers.
