Assistant head coach of the Slovak ice hockey team Peter Fryhauf said that at the 2023 World Cup players from the Continental Hockey League will not be included in the team’s squad.
“Over the past weeks, we have been talking to players who are now playing in the KHL.
During the conversations, we came to the unanimous opinion that for the sake of the absence of problems with the preparation and 100% concentration of our team in the tournament, we will not call them,” said Fryhauf.
The World Championship will be held in Finland and Latvia from May 12 to28. Slovakia fell into group B along with Canada, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Latvia, Norway, Kazakhstan and Finland.
